The History

The history of the Sussex College Network, which is the largest English medium school Network in Sri Lanka, goes back to several years. The Company was first registered with the Registrar of Companies on 11th November, 2002 under the name and style. The Institute of Computerized Accounting Ltd., with its registered office at 153, Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 07 bearing registered number PB 511 as a public Company. The Board of Directors at the inception were as follows:

  • Dr. J.L.B. Kotelawala (Chairman)
  • Mr. K.A.S. Jayatissa (Deputy Chairman)
  • Lady Dr. S.P.C. Kotelawala
  •  Mrs. P.K. Karunanayake
  •  Ms. Malini Sabaratnam
  •  Mr. Lesly Gunaratne

Later Mr. D.B. Andarawewa and Mr. H.M. Sirisena joined as Directors.

The name of the Company was changed to Ceylinco Sussex Educational Services Ltd. on 24th April 2003 and subsequently changed to Sussex Educational Services Ltd. on 16th December, 2010.

The present Board of Directors consists of the following.

  • Rev. Dodampahala Rahula Thero
  • Mr. Lesly Gunaratne
  • Mr. Rohana Wijesinghe

The first school was ceremonially opened on 22nd January 2004 at Nugegoda and the second on the same day afternoon at Negombo. At present Sussex Colleges are operating twenty schools in eight Provinces covering 15 districts.
